wandering
by Lady
Mellanien Eithoniel
wandering
through the forest fair
glowing
blossoms light the night
a
cool breeze comes and lifts my hair
to
brush my nape to set senses tingling
a
sound so wondrous and light
an
elven song lifted in beauty
breaks
through the gloaming of the night
and
set my hunters instincts quivering
by
shadowy glade i found my prey
an
elven maid so sweet and fair
i
swore that by light of day
i
would make her mine
upon
her brow there sat a star
shining
softly in the night
a
jewel so hard that naught could mar
its
beauty on her forehead gleaming
her
mantle was of midnight blue
her
girdle of mithril glimmering
at
her feet the honeysuckle grew
around
her toes atwining
a
breath too loud i must have made
for
with a gasp she startled
as
she fled I saw her braid
of
raven tresses shining
'please
wait' i called in my distress
my
heart already in her keeping
to
my joy a branch caught upon her dress
kept
her from further fleeing
i
approached and with reverence true
did
take her hand and pledge my aid
to
free her gown of midnight blue
and
never harm my lady fair
her
eyes they widened as they saw
not
a foe but lover sweet
she
lifted hand to stroke my jaw
and
set my body a'quiver
i
freed her from the branch and held
her
fair hand within mine
my
bold heart was at once felled
by
her sweet beauty and grace
