Then put all that good
stuff in your downloads folder (c:/program files/maxis/downloads – you should
create a folder called Simlogical if you don’t already have one, and put the
files into that subfolder.
Moving in: the house is a little over $23 k, so you’ll have to move in sims that already have enough money or put your newly created sims in to a temporary lot, use the ‘rosebud’ cheat a few times (get to the cheat window by pressing Control-Shift-C at the same time), the move them out of the empty lot (remember to save) and then move them into this lot. (NOTE: you may get a "missing objects" notice when you enter this house....don't worry, you're OK as long as you have downloaded *all* the objects noted above)
Now it’s time to assign apartments and apartment residents. First we’ll set the household. Each apartment token (the grey x thingies) needs to be set in each room of the apartment: basically every room that you want in the apartment restricted area should have a token. (can’t see your little x’s anywhere?
Then click on the controller (the bush underneath the outside light) and select
“show all room tokens) and select “set household”….then pick from the
numbers! I’m naming this apartment 1, and the other apartment will be 2. There
are several other options in the set household menu, but just the basics are
covered here. More information about standalone rooms can be found at www.simlogical.com.
(Simlogical has closed.)
Anyway, you need to set each token individually. The great thing is, after you have set all the tokens to their numbers, when you make a change to one token (like who has access to that apartment) it will automatically change all the other tokens, so you only have to work with one token for each apartment from now on!

To do this, select one of the tokens again and find the last name of your sim in the list. You may need to hit tab a couple times to find it, but once you do, select the name of the sim you’d like to occupy Apartment 1.

I’m moving Melissa into this apartment. This is the only token she needs to change. Inge from Simlogical recommends that you fill up the remaining shares (there are four) even if it means adding the same sim all four times…it cleans up the menu a bit. Myself, I’m usually too lazy to do it but, it might help you. So now all you need to do is set the Number 2 apartment to Chad, and we’re ready to watch our simmies move in!

if you’re getting tired of seeing those red and blue tokens on the floor of every room, don’t worry, just click on the controller and select “hide all tokens”; voila! They’re gone. You can bring them back at any time by selecting “reveal all tokens” on the apartment controller.

Now let’s watch our sims get used to their new surroundings.

If your sims are going into unassigned apartments, something has gone wrong. You may need to reset the controller and tokens entirely, but odds are you’ve figured it out and are now watching your little simmies exist in their own little worlds, seemingly not knowing there is someone living right next door…at least they don’t know about all their stuff, heh heh. Not unless you want them to (by changing the settings on the shrub to "be neighborly" or "entertain visitors").
Melissa is using her own refrigerator and the food she makes will be available only to her when the default setting is in place. All apartments are set by default to “sharers only”. So Chad can’t go visit Melissa, even to sit on her couch…he couldn’t even get in the door anyway because everything in the apartment system works together to ‘cord off’ rooms exclusively for a certain sim (they will probably want to go in to interact with the other Sim, but they won't be able to). They don’t even seem to complain that much about it, unless you have a very outgoing sim…they’ll get lonely if you put them in a singles apartment.
It’s usually a good idea to put in a couple outside activities like swimming or basketball, or have a “common room” where sims can join to chat, play pool, have drinks and blow bubbles and such. This is especially important if you have a lot of singles - so have fun remodeling this house!
I hope this tutorial has helped you!
