"Come on. Legolas. You need
some shoes", Elijah said. He led him back to Orlando's room and
opened the closet door. "A restaurant is a place where you can eat
when you are not at home." "Shoes? Do you mean
boots?" "Well I am sure Orli has
some boots if that would make you more comfortable. Shoes are like
mine", Elijah said pointing down to his Reeboks sneakers. "Of
course these are sneakers, but shoes can be lots of different things.
Didn't elves wear slippers for dancing?" He pointed out Orlando's
assortment of shoes. "The female elves always
wore slippers, but the men wore boots although for dancing they were
soft soled," Legolas said in response, as he looked down at the
floor and picked out a pair of sneakers, "These will do." "Sounds bloody uncomfortable
dancing in boots, but then Orlando does it all the time," Elijah
said. "He dances?" he
inquired as he slipped on the sneakers and laced them up, looking over
at Elijah with a grin. "I did not know that he could dance." Elijah let out a peal of
delighted laughter, "Legolas, dancing is Orlando's second favorite
thing in the world." He held out his hand to Legolas, "Shall
we go?" He took Elijah's hand. "This
sounds like an adventure. I'd like to see what dancing is in this world
as well," he said softly as he glanced around wiggling his toes in
the unfamiliar footwear, his boots never gave his toes such freedom. "If you are around tonight
still, I will take you dancing. Charlie would probably enjoy it
too!", Elijah grinned as he led Legolas down the hall, carpeted in
rich reds plush, to the elevator and punched the down button with his
free hand. "I do not know how long I
will be able to stay in this body while Orlando sleeps, but I shall
try," he said as he looked at the elevator. "Do they have
lembas bread?" "No, I doubt it, but they
have really good food. And I don't think you will need army rations
anyway," Elijah giggled. The elevator door opened and Elijah pulled
Legolas inside. As he was pulled inside the metal
box, he looked at Elijah, "What do you eat here, Elijah? What
things are good and what are not?" he inquired as he looked at the
buttons and pushed every single one. Elijah groaned, thinking this was
going to be a very long elevator ride. "There are so many good
things Legolas. I am thinking I will let you see when we get to the
restaurant. Everyone has different tastes." Elijah watched Legolas and
couldn't help being amused. He was nearly bouncing on his toes as the
elevator stopped on every floor and he stuck his head out on each one as
he looked around, "Everything is so different." "Yeah, that's for
sure." Elijah had to smile at Legolas' enthusiasm. Getting to the
Mediterranean level, he pulled Legolas out, "this is our floor
Mate." "Why do you call me
such?" Legolas asked as they left the lift, and he looked around in
amazement, the rich wooden architecture reminded him of Rivendell and
the floors were polished marble like those you would find in Lothlorien.
Everywhere he looked there was polished brass fittings. "I think
that Gimli could find nothing to complain about in this place." Elijah smiled, "I am sorry
if that offends you, Legolas. It is a nickname, that my friends and I
used to call each other when we were filming Lord of the Rings. That is
what I call Orlando a lot. It slipped out." "I do not mind... but
perhaps you should call me Orlando instead of Legolas... either way, I
will answer, for though I am Legolas in spirit, I am Orlando in
body." he said in reply, as he ruffled Elijah's hair. Elijah shivered at Legolas' hand
in his hair, "Orlando always does that too, ruffles my hair, I
mean." He pulled Legolas down the hallway to the end which opened
into a large elegant dining room. Legolas paused in the doorway,
where silvery banners and gold tables caught his attention, "Are
you sure about this... that I will not be out of place?" he asked
hesitating, even as Elijah dragged him inside the crowded room. "Don't worry about it, they
expect actors to be strange." As they entered a hush fell over the
busy dining room as the crowd saw the two stars standing in the doorway
holding hands. He held Elijah's hand a bit tighter as he walked over and
sat down in a chair. "It's ok, Mate, they will ignore us after a
few minutes. But a couple might come and ask for autographs if they are
feeling bold." Elijah did his best to reassure his new friend. A waiter in a crisp uniform
approached the table. "Good morning, Mr. Wood, Mr. Bloom. May I get
you something to drink?" as he handed them their menus. Legolas blinked at the name then
snapped back to reality, "Um... Orange juice for me..." he
said, not sure if that was correct but he remembered something that he
had overheard Elijah grinned, "I will have
orange juice too. And bring us a pot of coffee, please." After the
waiter left, he asked "How did you know to order orange
juice?" He shrugged, "It was
something that Orlando overheard in the place he was last night, Some
people ordered something called a Mandarin Dream, their friend asked
what was in it... one of the ingredients was orange juice." Elijah nodded, that made sense to
him. He pushed the menu over to Legolas. "That is a menu, it lists
the different foods that are available, or we could just go to the
buffet." Legolas peered at the menu, idly
looking at each item upon it as he bit his lower lip in thought. "I
don't know, it is so much... what is this.. a waffle?" "Dude, I think we had better
try the buffet. They will have waffles there and you can decide."
Elijah raised his hand to the waiter and indicated they were going to
the buffet. Elijah grabbed Legolas' hand again and pulled him along to
buffet tables brimming with food choices. Legolas gasped at the mounded
tables of food, "What is all this? I have not seen so much food
since I was last in Rivendell at Lord Elrond's table." "This is a buffet, it's like
a feast that you have to pay to eat at," Elijah laughed. Legolas picked up a plate and a
large spoon, poking at the scrambled eggs, "These are strange, they
have the color of gold, yet are not hard like the metal the Dwarves dig
up. Gimli would like these I think," he said, thinking on his
friend and smiling softly. "I am sure he would, he
seemed like he would be a hearty eater, almost as hearty as
hobbits," Elijah laughed at the thought. "Let fill our plates,
I haven't had my elevensies yet!" "Or your afternoon tea,
dinner or supper," he said with a smile, as he sampled a little bit
of everything and even snagged a sausage with his fingers before
stuffing the whole thing in his mouth. "Uh Mate, you really need to
wait till we get to the table to eat. The have laws about that
stuff." Elijah grinned. Legolas mumbled with his mouth
full, "It's wonderful, the flavor just bursts over my tongue."
he said as he walked back to the table. "They have great food
here", Elijah said enthusiastically. "I noticed." he said,
running back on light feet and snitching another sausage, stuffing that
one in before even swallowing the first, as he scampered back to the
table and plopped down. He hadn't eaten for a long time and the aromas
were driving him mad. Elijah looked around the
restaurant at the fascinated crowd and sighed, "Charlie would do so
much better at this than I am" he thought. Then he sat down and
poured coffee for both of them. "Here, this is coffee, you can
drink it black, which I don't recommend, or you can add sugar and/or
cream." Elijah handed him the sugar and cream containers Picking up the sugar and cream,
Legolas poured in generous amounts of each and stirred it with a spoon
as he picked up the cup and took a sip, "This is fantastic, so much
better than anything Erowyn tried to put before me." Elijah laughed heartily, "I
am not sure I would want to eat something a shield maiden had cooked
either!" Elijah added sugar to his coffee and sipped it. Legolas chuckled, as he finished
everything on his plate and looked up for more, "Can I go back and
get more? or is there a limit?" he asked, his eyes sparkling,
"I want more of those little finger like things that burst with
flavor." "Those are sausages. You can
go back as often as you want, at least until we leave." Elijah had
visions of Legolas running back in and doing a sausage heist. Grinning broadly, Legolas leapt
up and runs lightly to the buffet, snagging several of the prized
sausages for his plate. He saw the syrup container and sniffed it.
Making a sudden decision, he pours a generous amount of syrup on them.
As he walks back he plucks off a sausage with his fingers and pops it
into his mouth and licks his fingers clean with delight. "I wouldn't eat too many of
those, or you will be giving Orlando a tummy-ache. He is a vegetarian
and isn't used to much meat," Elijah watched in dismay as the
sausages disappeared. "What is a vegetarian?"
Legolas asked with bright eyes. "A vegetarian is someone who
chooses not to eat meat, or only some types of meat. Like Orli will eat
fish." Elijah smiled, "He really likes salmon." "I have not tasted salmon,
but I shall refrain from eating more of these sausages for I would not
want to make the body I inhabit sick," Legolas said sadly. Elijah felt bad for denying him,
but was sure that too much meat and grease on an unprepared stomach
would do damage, "There is some salmon down on the end of the
buffet if you want to try it. They have it here for people who want
bagels and lox." "What is a bagel?"
Legolas asked confusedly, then shook his head, "Do not answer that,
for I shall find it now that I am curious," he said as he rushed
back to the buffet in search of the bagels and this salmon. "Don't forget the cream
cheese!" Elijah called after him grinning in amusement. Legolas jumped and looked about
warily as a shrill ringing came nearby. Realizing the sound came from
him, he retrieved a cell phone from his pocket and runs swiftly back to
Elijah and earnestly asks, his nostrils flaring, "What is this
piece of magic?" "That is Orli's cell
phone." Elijah pulled out his own phone to demonstrate it's use,
"you push this button, hold it up like this and say 'Orlando Bloom
speaking'." Legolas carefully repeated
Elijah's actions with the shrilling phone and says hesitantly,
"Orlando Bloom... hello?" The person on the other end began to
yell urgently, and Legolas yanked it from his ear in pain, "It is a
Sean Bean... something about Troy." That's all this day needed,
Elijah thought wearily, and then said aloud, "Let me have it, I
will take care of it." Taking the phone he said, "Hey Sean,
it's 'Lij." Sean's hoarse voice came loudly
over the line, "'Lij? Where the bloody hell is Orlando? He has to
be back here tomorrow, the vacation has been cut short." Elijah winced as Sean's harsh
voice grated on his ears. "Calm down, Sean. Orlando is here, he
just isn't feeling well and you were giving him a bloody headache,"
Elijah grinned at Legolas. "He in one piece though? For
I'd hate trying to explain it to Wolfgang that he was hurt or
something," Sean sounded totally stressed out. Elijah said soothingly, "He
is fine Sean, but there is no way he can fly back tonight. They will
have to shoot around him." Sean sighed heavily. "We
need him for the Menelaeus/Paris battle", he said softly, "are
you sure there is no way to get him back tomorrow?" Legolas looked up with great
resolve, "I will go." "Hold on Sean", Elijah
clicked the mute button and looked at Legolas as if he had lost his
mind, "You cannot do this, believe me! There are too many things
that can go wrong." Legolas shook his head, "I
can and I will, I will not jeopardize Orlando's career by keeping his
body, we shall go do this Troy and I will let him have his body
back." Taking the phone off mute, Elijah
said resignedly, "Ok Sean, I will do my best to get him there. I am
calling the airport now." Sadly he knew that Legolas was right,
with so much competition in the market Orlando's career could suffer if
he was branded unreliable. Sean sighed in relief, "I
just hope he's rested, these last weeks are going to be hell on that
kid." He said his farewells and hung up the phone. Legolas looked at him, "What
is so wrong about me going to this... whatever this Troy thing is." Elijah scraped his dark hair back
with his hands, "Troy is the movie that he is filming, it's really
big. This is an epic film and a really good role for Orlando. This is
his job, Legolas. It would be disastrous if it got screwed up. Plus it's
a battle scene, I hate to think what would happen if you freaked and
really started hacking at people." Elijah was so upset that he
didn't consider his words carefully. Legolas scowled at Elijah
belligerently, "I am a trained warrior, and the elite archer of the
realm of Mirkwood, I know how to restrain myself from hacking at people
and I do not freak." His whole stance relayed that he was highly
offended. Elijah once again wished that
Charlie was here, "I apologize, Mate. That was a very inconsiderate
thing for me to say." As if by magic, Charlie appeared
at the door of the restaurant, wearing a leather mini skirt, an emerald
green crop top, fishnets and thigh high boots turned down to make cuffs.
She breezed in, kissing Legolas on the cheek and plumped herself down on
Elijah's lap. "Did you call me, Sweet Thing?" laughing at his
shocked expression. "You look lovely, mellonamin."
Legolas said bowing his head, "Elijah and I were having some....
differences." His face still looked offended as he regarded her
steadily. Charlie kissed Elijah searingly
and said, "Have you been being a bad boy? You shouldn't be
upsetting the Prince of Mirkwood, dear." Elijah sputtered, "He wants
to go and film Troy, Charlie. I can't even imagine what could
happen!" Legolas nodded at Elijah's
description, "That is correct, Charlie. But then he tried to tell
me that I would.... what was it, freak out and start hacking at
people." Charlie looked over at Legolas
intently trying to read his face, "Are you sure that you wouldn't,
Mighty Prince? Have you ever been in a battle where you were not allowed
to hurt anyone. All your battles have been very real, this will be
play-acting, but will seem real. Are you sure that you could handle
this?" Legolas couldn't take offense as
he looked at her benign face, "My father, Thranduil, whilst I was a
young elfling had me taught with blunt blades and arrow tips, never
sharp until I was ready, and by that time I was 850 years of age." "But was that when you were
in what appeared to be the heat of battle?" she asked interestedly. Legolas nodded, "My father
has taught me well. Yes, it was mock battle, but battle
nonetheless." Shifting her bottom on Elijah's
lap, she faced him. "There, see? He can handle it. No
problems." She laughed at the warm expression on his face caused by
her shifting. Elijah never quite knew what to
think about this mercurial creature who had dropped herself on his lap,
but he was willing to wait and find out where it led him. "Charlie,
I don't think I can talk to the airlines with you squirming around on my
lap," he said with a slight groan. Legolas chuckled. Then he headed
back to the buffet for some more of that lox that he didn't get to
sample before, having been interrupted by the ringing cell phone. He
picked up some of the delicate orange fish and put them on the plate. Charlie kissed Elijah again until
he was the one who was squirming, "Ok Doll, I will sit over here
for awhile." Before she sat down she grabbed a clean cup from a
nearby table then poured herself a cup of coffee, drinking it black. Elijah sighed as her warm bottom
left his lap, "I assume we are going with him, right?" At her
affirmative nod, he dialed his travel agent and requested 3 first class
tickets to Malta as soon as possible. Turning to Charlie, he said,
"She is going to call me back as soon as she has a flight for us.
Let's take pretty boy, out on the town." Elijah was beginning to
feel that adventuring with the Prince of Mirkwood was not just a holiday
party. Charlie glanced over at the
buffet where she spied Legolas eating lox at the buffet, giving soulful
looks at the sausage tray. Then peering at the pancakes and Legolas
picks one up, nibbling on it as he gazes over the buffet trying to
decide what to eat next. Charlie looks pained, "Didn't you tell him
to eat at the table?" Elijah grinned, "I tried to,
Luv. Do you really think that the 'Mighty Prince of Mirkwood' was going
to listen to a dorky little hobbit like me." He stood up and headed
over to the buffet and asked Legolas if he was ready to go. Legolas looked over at Elijah
with an expression of hope, a pancake hanging out of his mouth as he
backed up. "I want to eat some more, I have not.... in a long
time," he said as he pulled the piece of pancake from his mouth and
looked at his friend. Elijah laughed, "Ok, we can
stay if you want, but could you please fill a plate and eat at the
table. The management is starting to look concerned." He grinned and pointed to the
Maitre de, who was indeed looking like a broom was stuck up his butt. "I think I do not know what
I want.. I do like the lox, and the sausages, and the little disc
things." Elijah grabbed a couple of plates
and filled them with a variety of things that he knew Orlando liked.
Handed one to Legolas and said "These are things that Orli like to
eat, mate. Let's go sit down, please." He took the plate and followed
Elijah back to the table and sat next to Charlie, "I have not had
food like this in so long, since I last sat in Minas Tirith and ate at
the King.... King Elessar's table," he said sadly, with a pang of
longing in his voice. Charlie kissed him lightly on the
cheek, "I am sorry for your loss, dear heart." Elijah put the
other plate in front of Legolas too. He sat and poured another round of
coffee for everyone and added sugar to his. "I am sorry, I know that I
should be happy to be here in this place with people who care, and yet
all I can do is think of the one whom I lost my heart to", he said
moodily, as he began poking at his food. Elijah rubbed his back gently
saying quietly, "it is not easy to forget someone that you have
shared your life with Legolas. But if you do not attempt to go on with
your life and find joy in other things, then you will just fade
away." He thought of Dom and totally sympathized with the elf. Legolas smiled in remembrance,
"I cannot fade away, I have a friend now in Orlando, a friend and a
good confidant... he cares for me and I for him." Charlie smiled, "Orlando is
a wonderful friend, Legolas. I hope that you will consider us friends as
well. We care what happens to you." "Of course I do... I know
that you are friends of Orlando's, and that makes you friends of mine...
What has your phone call decided, Elijah?" Legolas changed the
subject with alacrity, elves being mercurial creatures. "My travel agent hasn't
called me back yet. If you would like to go see something of the city,
she will reach us on my cell." "I miss the tapestries and
paintings of my world... do you have something like that here?" he
asked, as he looked at the plates of food before him, "and maybe
have this wrapped to go... I do not want to lose these..." Elijah smiled happily, "I
know the perfect place." He picked up the plates of food and went
to the Maitre de. They had a brief discussion during which the face of
the other man became sour. Elijah spoke calmly to him and the man took
the plates away and came back with two bags, which he handed to Elijah.
He then presented a bill to him and Elijah scrawled his signature and
his room number upon it. He returned to the table and handed the bags to
Legolas. "Here you go, mate! Something for your afternoon tea,
dinner and supper." "I think that is more your
style, Master Hobbit.... not mine, but I gladly will eat it
later..." he said smiling. He headed with them out the door,
looking around still in awe at the magnificence of the huge hotel. They
walked to the grand staircase leading down and gazed down on the golden
hued wood floors of the magnificent lobby. A gorgeous crystal chandelier
shaped like an upside down blossom with twelve petals dazzled the eyes. Letting Legolas move down the
staircase, Charlie stopped to whisper in Elijah's ear, "He is
afraid of your driving Luv, I guess he could feel some of it before he
emerged. Can I drive or should we take a cab?" Legolas ran gracefully down the
stairs to peer upwards at the chandelier and blinked at the reflecting
light. Then his glance came upon a large fountain that had horses
spouting water. He moved swiftly for it and stared at it, wondering how
it worked and peered into the water. He then sank his hand in to the
elbow, searching to see how it worked. Elijah had no hesitation,
"Of course you can drive my car Charlie. I trust you with both of
my engines." He smirked, "But we better rescue our hero from a
ducking." The elf had placed his sacks of
food down, ready to stick his entire head into the fountain to see how
it worked. He stuck his other hand into the fountain, leaning far over
with a grin on his lips. Charlie rushed up to him and
pulled him out of the fountain before he got totally wet, "Legolas
you will need to save that for another time." Legolas blinked as he was pulled
from the fascinating fountain, "I was simply looking to see how it
functioned." This was all Charlie needed to
launch into a discussion of motors and hydraulic pumps, as she led him
by the hand to the garage. "Where's your car Luv?" she said,
turning to Elijah who was following behind smiling at Legolas' confused
features. "Over there in the VIP's
parking", he replied Legolas followed along listening
to her go on about motors and pumps and was completely confused, "I
remember racing like the wind in that car... though I was not sure how
we went that fast." "You might not want to ask
Charlie to explain it, Legolas." Elijah smiled fondly, as he used
the electronic key pad to open the door locks. He tossed
the keys to Charlie. "I will sit in the back, since I have
the shortest legs," he smiled self-deprecatingly. "No... I will sit in the
back in the middle, so that I can rest my head against the back and feel
the wind in my hair," Legolas said as he scrambled into the back
seat and laid his head back against the black leather seat. Charlie turned the key and the
engine roared to life, "Well if you want wind in your hair Legolas,
I guess I better lower the top." She pushed the automatic control
button for the roof and the black top slid back smoothly. He looked up with a huge smile as
the top went down as he settled against the leather interior and sighed
deeply, "It has been too long since I have had a day in the
sun." Charlie slid the car into gear
and backed out carefully. "So where is this perfect place, 'Lij?"
she inquired. "It's Galerie Karsten Greve,
Charlie. Do you know where they are? They have a modern art exhibit
right now and some Period pieces on loan from the Louvre." Charlie
nodded her head. "What is a modern art
exhibit?" Legolas asked from the backseat and then spying the
amazing amount of buttons and levers on the dashboard, leaned forward,
sticking his head between the two. His long slender, finger reached out
and poked the button for the stereo as the raucous tones of the
'Smashing Pumpkins' filled the car, "How did they get them in
there!" Charlie shifted the car into
drive and laughed, "They are not in there Legolas, that is a
recording. A permanent record of their music. A modern art exhibit is a
gathering of the work of artists who don't feel that they have to work
within the framework of realism." She turned out of the garage and
headed west. "Oh..." Legolas said as
he messed with more buttons, making the hazard lights go on, then the
wipers, then the station changed, once then again then again, as he was
like a little kid, "There is so much here.... How does it all
work?" Elijah laughed until his sides
ached, "It is a lucky thing I don't have an ejector seat." Charley stopped Legolas with her
hand as he reached for the stick shift, "No, I don't think so,
Master Elf. You can leave this and the steering wheel alone!" "What is an ejector
seat?" he queried as he looked out the windshield and at the
passing scenery. He sighed as he wanted to at least touch the stick that
Charlie was handling, "I am sorry... I will sit back and do nothing
then." Elijah felt sorry for the elf,
"Charley if we went out of the city, don't you think we could teach
him?" He knew how he had longed to drive before he was old enough
and truly sympathized with him. "No, Charlie is right, I
will be patient, because I do want to see this art that you speak
of," he said as he watched the incredible scenery of Milan center
pass them by. Charlie found a spot to park just
past the gallery and back in expertly. She turned back in her seat to
smile at Legolas, "Did I do ok or did I drive like the maiera
run?" "You did fine, my Lady....
Charlie," he said softly, giving her a smile. He climbed out of the
car, simply by placing his hands on the side and hopping over. "We
cannot linger here." Tossing the keys to Elijah, she
leapt out as well. Elijah climbed out and led the way to the gallery. It
was an impressive gallery, with large plate glass windows and golden
wood doors. There was a large glass chandelier hanging from the lofty
ceiling and the pale hardwood floor gleamed in it's light. Legolas
barely noticed his surroundings, immediately drawn to a large canvas
that hung halfway down the main gallery. The colors were almost playful
in vibrant shades of blue, red, orange, yellow, purple and green, and
Legolas walked right up to it and stood there, entranced by it, as
though something had pulled him there. Charlie walked up to him and put
her arm around him. "What do you think of it, Legolas? It is called
Selva and it is by Viggo Mortensen." She felt confident this was ok
to tell him. Her session with her focus stone had grounded her and made
her impressions more secure. He wrapped his arm around
Charlie's shoulders and gave her an affectionate squeeze, "I like
it, the colors are playful and vibrant... the purple is so perfect
here." he said, pointing and swirling his finger a bit. Elijah stepped up, "He is an
impressive artist, Legolas. He paints, writes poetry and music, and does
photography as well." "He is good at it," he
said, though he felt something, a tinge of sadness maybe. "But
there is something about this person.... this Viggo... that hurts
me." Charlie hugged him closer,
"You are probably pulling on some of Orlando's memories. They were
close once and now have drifted apart." Her eyes were filled with
compassion as she gazed upon the elf. "But why.... I do not
understand..." he whispered, still drawn to the painting. He stared
at it, his eyes sad, curious and angry all at the same time. "That is something I can't
tell you now Legolas. It will come clear to you when the time is
right," she kissed his cheek and led him away from the painting.
"Would you like to see more modern art, or would you like to see
the historical pieces on loan here?" she asked gently. He shook his head, "This
one... it makes me sad... yet calls to me... as though it should be a
part of me." Elijah gave him a hug and said,
"It's a beautiful, haunting piece of art, Legolas. You can't go
beyond that right now. Charlie knows what she is talking about, she can
see things that we can't." Legolas turned towards Charlie
and took her hands in his own, "You are like the Lord Elrond? You
can see the future?" "I am not that powerful,
Legolas, but I can get strong impressions of what is the correct course
to take to keep the fates aligned." "And the fates... what do
they say for me?" he asked, looking into her luminous eyes. She smiled and held his
shoulders, massaging gently, "They say that if we step very
carefully, then you and Orlando will both find peace." Legolas nodded, "I
understand, Charlie. I will do my best to see that Orlando and I will
find peace together." Elijah breathed a quiet sigh of
relief and then jumped as his cell phone rang, "Hello, this is
Elijah Wood speaking." He moved away from them and spoke quietly
into the cell phone. Closing it, he returned. "We have a flight at
Midnight, that will get us there at 2am. We'll have some time to rest
before his 6am call." Legolas nodded, "Then let us
go and finish things before we must go, how will we be getting
there...?" "We will be going by
airplane, Legolas. It's like flying on the Gwaihir, but not as windy and
a lot more comfortable," Elijah giggled at the thought. "To fly upon the back of the
Lord of the Eagles is an honor that was usually reserved for Gandalf
alone," he said softly, and walked through the gallery, only to
stop dead in his tracks. "What is it, Legolas?"
Charlie walked up to him in concern. He was staring at a painting of
himself, or what looked like him, again by the same artist.
"This... this painting," he said, it was of Legolas standing
with a beautiful backdrop of trees at his back, the bow in his
hand, and he seemed to be reaching for an arrow from his quiver.
"It.... it is me." Elijah said carefully,
"Actually, that is Orlando when he was portraying you. Viggo
painted that while we were doing the 2nd movie." Legolas took another step
forwards and looked at the painting closer, "By Elbereth! He does
look like me, he is so beautiful... Now I no longer wonder that my
spirit was drawn to his and his to mine." ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ The
rest of the afternoon passed quickly, Elijah called the concierge at the
Marriott and requested that their luggage be packed and sent ahead to
the airport. They spent the afternoon wandering the shops and gardens of
Milan. Legolas was like a child, excited at all the new sights and
sounds. The huge population itself amazed him for the White City had
been the largest of his age and Milan quite eclipsed it. They stopped at
a sidewalk cafe and had fruit gelato, which made his tongue tingle. As
the afternoon grew long, Charlie drove them to her home, a small villa
that had a large garage attached for her business. Her home was
tastefully decorated in creams, golds and greens. She despised knick
knacks, so her home was delightfully comfortable for both sexes. After
she packed, she made pasta with shrimp and vegetables, which she served
with bread and wine. They sat on the patio and watched the sun set as
they ate. "What
do you think, Legolas? You want to go to the Majestic Beast and watch
some dancing until it's time to catch our flight?" Elijah smiled at
the elf who was laying on a deck recliner, propped up on his elbows
catching the last rays of the sun upon his fair face. "I
believe that I would like that, Elijah. If it is all right with you,
Charlie I would like to wash my face before we go," Legolas said as
he pulled his lithe form up into a sitting position. Elijah called a cab
while Charlie showed Legolas where the bathroom was and then returned to
Elijah. Charlie
came up behind Elijah, who was standing leaning on the balustrade of her
patio and put her arms around him, nuzzling his ear, "Mmm that
feels nice," Elijah said. "Can I leave my car here, Charlie? I
would trust it here more than a parking garage." The
trust that Elijah showed in Charlie by wanting to leave his precious
Ferrari in her care, floored her and warmed her heart, "Of course
you can, Luv." Elijah twisted in her arms and kissed her deeply. "I
hope that I am not interrupting anything," came the amused voice of
Legolas from the doorway. For
once Elijah didn't blush or pull away, he just said, "Well as a
matter of fact you are, mate," and kissed Charlie again until she
was breathless. Legolas
watched amused, it was good that Elijah was gaining self-confidence.
After a few moments, the couple drew apart and smiled into each other's
eyes. A car horn sounded from the front of the villa. Elijah grabbed
Charlie's hand in one hand and then Legolas' in the other and they went
out to the waiting taxi. |
